Default Lost Administrator Password.

I recently installed Windows XP onto my sons computer. When I installed
it i wasnt really paying much attention as it was a long an tedious
experience. It was askin for passwords and users etc. I created an
administrator account and password and another account for my son with
no administrator access as i did not want him to mess up the computer
installing useless junk. Anyway I bought him a new digital camera and
went to install the software onto the computer when it reminded me that
i needed to have administrator access to install any new software. Being
the idiot that i am i dont remember the password. I attempted to
reinstall Windows XP but of course i am unable to do this of my sons
account as he cannot install any new software, which is the original
problem. Sorry for babbling. I am just wondering if there is any way i
can re-install Windows XP without the Admin password? If not is there
anyway i can reset the password? Thanks for any help

You could try reinstalling windows, before windows boots. Before you
try that, do you remeber the password for the administrator acount
(not the acount you created, the default administrator acount, that is
called administrator)?

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
*cannot* be deleted) and modify the desired account. By design, the only
way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to reboot
into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the
Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.

If you cannot log in via the in-built Administrators password or you
have forgotten it then go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/
and download the boot disk, this will enable you to reset any system
password on an NT class
operating system
