I recently installed Windows XP onto my sons computer. When I installed it i wasnt really paying much attention as it was a long an tedious experience. It was askin for passwords and users etc. I created an administrator account and password and another account for my son with no administrator access as i did not want him to mess up the computer installing useless junk. Anyway I bought him a new digital camera and went to install the software onto the computer when it reminded me that i needed to have administrator access to install any new software. Being the idiot that i am i dont remember the password. I attempted to reinstall Windows XP but of course i am unable to do this of my sons account as he cannot install any new software, which is the original problem. Sorry for babbling. I am just wondering if there is any way i can re-install Windows XP without the Admin password? If not is there anyway i can reset the password? Thanks for any help -- kingrick |

Before you try that, do you remeber the password for the administrator acount (not the acount you created, the default administrator acount, that is called administrator)? -- Posted using the http://www.windowsforumz.com interface, at author's request Articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards Topic URL: http://www.windowsforumz.com/Lost-is...ict433807.html Visit Topic URL to contact author (reg. req'd). By design, the only way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.
