Make sure all accounts including the administrator account have strong
passwords. Disable the guest account. The administrator account is used to
access the c$ share. The share will still be there but access will be denied
without a password. With XP Home you have to boot into safe mode to access
the administrator account. I'm not sure off the top of my head but I don't
think XP Home creates the administrative shares anyway.

If you really want to disable the shares there are registry keys you can
edit to do this. This can cause unexpected problems so I'll leave it to you
to search Google for how to do it. It is not recommended.

help! I've denied myself access to my c drive now, through denying
access to me\administrators through 'permissions' ...

I haven't a clue how to get access to my c: drive back

I've got XP Pro ...

It's OK. got it back by clicking my computer, right clicking c drive,
properties, security, selecting all users and clicking allow full
control.

there's only 3 pc's on the network. I don't think I can deny access to
the other two PC's without denying myself ...
