Default Active X blocked

If anybody can help please let me know. I am trying to download the free
MacAfee virus scan that comes with comcast. But, the ActiveX keeps getting
blocked or if not that then parts of the program get stopped because unable
to verify the software publisher. I have windows XP and even windows updates
are blocked due to inability to verify software. I have tried the basics
that Macafee recommends as far as checking my security settings, but this
doesn't help at all. I did read that in sept. someone posted the same
problem, but I can't find whether they ever fixed the problem. Someone
please help.

Try re-registering the following .dll files
Softpub.dll
Wintrust.dll
Initpki.dll
Urlmon.dll

1. Click Start >Run and type
regsvr32 Softpub.dll
Click okay to register it
You should get a dialog box telling you that it was successful.
2. Repeat the process for the other .dll files.
3. Restart your computer and try the update site again.
