Running XP, and just installed several dozen updates including SP2. (A
year-old machine I acquired which had not been connected to the internet recently.) I had installed the latest version of the free ZA before I did the updates. I had ZA configured in its own menu to load on startup. Before the upgrades its icon used to appear in the tray by the clock on startup, but now it would not. It was not running and I had to start it manually. Not good. I uninstalled and re-installed ZA to no effect. However, I noticed that on startup, not only did ZA not load, but an Explorer window with C:\Program Files\Zone.com (games) came up, which did not occur during the period ZA was uninstalled (or before SP2 and the earlier updates). Since they both start with "Zone", I thought that was too much of a coincidence, so I renamed Zone.com GZone.com and the problem disappeared. ZA now loads on startup and its icon appears in the tray. Any idea why XP SP2 would behave like that? ES |

I just found this...
[[Some kind soul responded to my questions re: Zone Alarm problems after SP2 update. The response came from the zone alarm forums. It works. ***** This is a glitch that happens for some, not all, with the installation of ZA, SP2 and Windows ... for some reason Windows gets confused with ZoneAlarm and Zone.Com and there are various reasons why, but there are a couple of solutions ... I hope this one helps ... BB In Windows Explorer go to My Computer > Local Disk ( C: ) > Program Files > Zone.Com > Zone Deluxe Games ... now drag and drop the Zone Deluxe Games Folder into the Folder labeled Program Files ... now delete the Zone.Com Folder ... Zone Alarm should now load without any problems and the Zone.Com Folder will not show-up any longer ************* Chet]] http://groups.google.com/group/micro...2d57ed2a0de09c -- Hope this helps.
