In short full control means the user has all the other permissions listed
and can take ownership of a file/folder. Read means you can read a file such as a text or Word file. Write means you can create files/folders. Read and execute means you can read and execute the file if it is an application file such as ending with .exe. Modify means that you can delete and modify the contents of a file such as a edit document. --- Steve "WindowXPSecuritysettings" <WindowXPSecuritysettings@discussions.microsoft.co m> wrote in message news:12DC0626-A1D1-491A-99C8-BF8BCFCD5789@microsoft.com... > Can someone explain to me what each of the permissions for administrators > do? > 1. I'd have to say that all of the above are pretty much self-explanatory. If you're having trouble comprehending the words, start here: Merriam-Webster OnLine http://www.m-w.com/ > 6. Special Permissions A custom combination or permissions and denials that *you* set. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html You can have peace.
