Can anyone help me install Iola System Mechanic 5?
I am running Windows XP Home and I am getting an error message during the installation of this software: "You do not have access to make the required system configuration modifications. Please re-run this installation from the administrator's account" According to the info in User Accounts I AM the system administrator. I am the only one who uses my computer. The Iolo technical support man is mystified and says I have a permissions problem that I need to sort out myself. This may have been the wrong thing to do but I logged on in safe mode (this is the only time I ever see my user name and a separate Administrator user name). I clicked on the administrator but I still got stuck at the same point of installation. Does anyone know what is going on and what I have to do to prevent this error? - Many thanks JD |

The installation routine stalls if the username isn't what it expects, regardless of the account's privileges. I've even seen such applications fail if the built-in Administrator account has been renamed. Try logging into the built-in Administrator account and then installing the application. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html You can have peace. Hi Bruce
Thank you for the help. I was able to install by going into Safe Mode and into the administrator's account. -- Many thanks JD "Bruce Chambers" wrote: > Jackie D wrote: > > Can anyone help me install Iola System Mechanic 5? > > I am running Windows XP Home and I am getting an error message during the > > installation of this software: > > > > "You do not have access to make the required system configuration > > modifications.
