I want some of the users of my PC to access files for some programs.
Specificaly, Microsoft Money. My wife and I have different logons, but use the same Money file. I tried moving it to the Shared Documents folder, but she still can't access it. Also, there are some programs that one user can run, but no one else can. |

When you move a file it will keep the permissions it had. When you copy a
file it will then inherit permissions from the folder it is copied to. You still can change permissions on it to grant your wife access. For programs that will not run for some users check the permissions on the folder for the application to make sure that the other users have at least read/list/execute permissions. Unfortueanly some programs will not run unless the user is a local administrator or power user or has the same permissions to the application as the power users group. The link below will describe how to check and change NTFS permissions in XP and note the procedure is different depending on if you are using XP Home or XP o. --- Steve http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;308418 --- set folder permissions in XP.
