Default How to enable Standby Mode

I have Dell Latiitude x300 running Win XP SP2 but for some reason I am unable
to go into stndby mode. The option is there but greyed out for some reason.
Also a colleague of mine has the same laptop and on his power option dialog
box he has a hibernate tab which I seem to be missing. If someone could tell
me how to enable these features as they are very useful for meetings etc......

Visit the Dell support web site, download and install
the Windows XP video adapter driver for your specific
Dell computer model.
