Post back with a better description of your computer and what you are trying to do. I suspect that you just want to turn off a software firewall that is enabled on the network connection, but without knowing what firewall you have installed and if that is really what you are trying to do, it is impossible to give you a specific answer. And the reason you don't want to do this configuration from within the firewall program itself? And which firewall? Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" I am picking up where someone left off. The location of the laptop is a
couple hours away in a remote office. The only other account that can log onto the comuputer locally is the administrator. Do not understand why no other account was created with more access than the basic user account. We can not give out the admin password, so it seems i am stuck. The laptop is logging in locally and not to a domain. I need to connect and the firewall is stopping me. thanks Neal "Malke" wrote: > NealJH wrote: > > > Yes it is the software firewall on the network connection. > > > > Sorry > > > > Neal > > > > "Malke" wrote: > > > >> NealJH wrote: > >> > >> > Is there any to turn the firewall on the nic card off in the > >> > registry. > >> > > > All righty, then. Give the end user the Administrator password, have them make the necessary changes, and then change the Administrator password once you've made the connection. If the laptop in question is behind a router, then you'll need to use the router's configuration to forward ports. Someone onsite will need to do that.
