Default Windows Firewall

I click protection ON (green shield) but when I turn pc off & then back on
again it's defaulted back to OFF (red shield). I can use LIMEWIRE to dload
because it says it is blocked by a firewall! I've unblocked this and it still
doesn't work. Help please

Check your event logs for clues. Also make sure your PC is up to date via
Windows Update, and is fully patched - that you run good, regularly updated
antivirus software, and download/install antispyware tools such as:

Microsoft Antispyware Beta
Spybot Search & Destroy
AdAware

See http://www.microsoft.com/uk/security/protect/alert.mspx

Note: do *not* connect your computer to the internet--for even a
nanosecond--without a firewall. Getting a simple broadband router/firewall
appliance is a good idea, even if you have a functional software firewall on
your clients.

Re Limewire - peer to peer file sharing software is bad news. Don't use it.
