Default Windows XP Popup message

Dear all,

In XP, how can I enable popup windows (with my customized message) after
user logon?

My situation is that:
I would like to pass some information to users when they login our windows
XP client machines. As I would like this message only popup when user login,
"net send" command seems cannot help my case. Furthermore, I cannot find any
policy rule in AD about that.;-(

Thanks in advance.

It is in Group Policies. Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Security Settings, Local Policies, Security Options.

Interactive Logon: Message text for users attempting to log on.
Interactive Logon: Message title for users attempting to log on.

Dear Doug Knox,

As I'm busy for last few week, I just try your suggestion now. It works,
thanks for your reply!

One more stupid question, neglecting 'email', 'popup message' from AD policy
or net send command or 'announcement' via IIS webpage. Any similar tool from
Microsoft?

Can this feature be used with screen saver? The message Title and Text stay
open and the screen saver is never activated. Is something that can be done
for them to work together?

I am using the Interactive Login Security setting (Message Text, Message
Title) to open a "Computer Usage" display box at Windows startup and Log off.
This feature works fine, however, the User account Screen Saver is never
activitated while this feature is in use. Is there a way for both these
features to work together?

As far as I know, there's no reason the screen saver shouldn't work when the logon message is enabled.

Default Re: Windows XP Popup message

Just to be clear I am using the Interactive Logon Message Text and Title.
The effect is that when the computer is started my customized "Computer Usage
Policy" message box appears. This gives the user the option to click OK and
they are then presented with my Novell Netware Login Screen. The user sees
the message box everytime they logoff the network or restart the machine.
While this option is turned on the screeen saver is not activated for as long
as the "Computer Usage Policy" message box is displayed. After logging in,
and while the desktop is open, the screen saver does activate normally. I
was hoping that the screen saver would continue to be actived even while my
customized "Computer Usage Policy" message box is displayed. Have you seen
this to be the case, too? Is there something I can do for this?
Thanks,
Lou

Default Re: Windows XP Popup message

I am using the Interactive Login Security setting (Message Text, Message
Title) to open a "Computer Usage" display box at Windows startup and Log off.
This feature works fine, however, the User account Screen Saver is never
activitated while this feature is in use. Is there a way for both these
features to work together?
