Default Anti spy causing SLOW boot

Just did a format and install of XP home. Had SP2 saved on another
drive and installed it and AVG, Spybot, Ewido also BEFORE I TURNED ON
MY MODEM and going online. Installed all other MS critical updates
after going online.

XP would boot in less than 20 seconds until I installed all the
antispyware. Now it is super slow.

They all work pretty good except it takes almost 2 minuted to load Ewido
and Zone Alarm when booting up. I will live with this if necessary to
get some protection, but wondering if there is any way to keep
protection and speed up boot?

McAfee had caused lots of problems, removed and REFORMATTED, so it is
completely gone.

Re: Alert Settings... Firewall, Auto Update, Virus Protection all checked.

MS Firewall turned OFF.

Any suggestions on something to speed up boot and KEEP the protection?

Thanks

I'd disconnect the machine from the Internet and any lan and do
clean-boot troubleshooting. Determine which program is causing the
slowdown. Then make your choices accordingly.

In SystemConfigurationUtility / STARTUP I have ONLY 4 items.

2 for AVG, which I want to start on boot.
One for Zone Alarm and one for MS AntiSpyware, which I want to start on
boot.

Nothing else is in the STARTUP window.

The slow start started after installing the above, so I ASSUME
everything in Windows should be OK.

Again this is after a new install of XP just 2 days ago. Haven't
installed any other programs yet.

I will keep these programs, just wondering if any way to speed up the
loading of the programs.

Thanks

What part of what I wrote didn't you understand? Do a clean-boot. Then
you will see which of the programs you have installed is causing the
slowness. After you've determined which one it is, you can make a
decision - if the slowness is caused by something you want to keep,
then you'll make the decision to live with it. Or not.
