Default Change the way users log on and off MODULE MISSING???

I have pretty fresh installation of windows xp pro (week ago) and i have been
trying to get the "ctrl + alt + del" login screen at startup instead of the
typical welcome screen. I have all of the current Windows updates.

When i try to go into "change the way users log on or off" i get a "the
module cannot be found" alert box. What is shown visually on the screen in
the "change the way users log on or off" is that the two check boxes are
already unchecked which is the way it should be to enable the ctrl + alt +
del login (along with the disable feature in security settings). I still have
te welcome screen, so i am figuring that the problem has more to do with this
missing module.

Please help.

Other info:
I recently tried security program Mcafee Internet Security and uninstalled
it. I also had Norton System Works installed, but uninstalled that. Now i
have Norton Internet Security instaled and am sticking with that. Could the
install and uninstall of the products cuased the "module" problem.

In a word.. 0xFFFF.

Might be worth seeing if you can do a System Restore to before the point
these were installed.

Unfortunately, i never have any luck with system restore. That won't do the
trick. I hope i don't have to re-install Windows.

Ithompson,

Type in Start, Run:

regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 wshom.ocx

If you receive the following error or similar, then reinstall Windows Script
5.6 frm the URL given at the bottom:

[Error 1]
LoadLibrary("wshom.ocx") failed - The specified module could not be
found.
[/Error 1]

[Error 2]
LoadLibrary("jscript.dll") failed - The specified module could not be
found.
[/Error 2]

BTW, it's no surprise to me that scripting gets broken after removing a
Norton product.

You are a GENIUS! That did the trick. After I ran those commands or scripts I
noticed that it said successful and I thought we were back to square one and
that we had not accomplished anything, but I decided to go in and try the
"change the way users log on and off" and it opened up with no alert box and
I was able to switch the settings to my liking. After a successful log in
using the ctrl + alt + del prompted box I am here to report my happiness.
Thank you very much and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

BTW, do you think it was the security programs install/uninstall that caused
the problem? And, since I ran those scripts in the run box are they going to
stay working?

PS: I have another problem that I am about to post in the newsgroup (plus
the office newsgroup) that I think is related to the same issue. Maybe you
would be so kind as to troubleshoot it for me?

I have a copy of Office 2003 Professional w/Business Contact Manager. When I
installed Windows a week ago my Business Contact Manager worked properly, but
after making all the security program switches that I described above and
updating my computer with the latest updates (required and optional) I was
getting a serious error and the program kept closing and opening over and
over again. Once I uninstalled the program the errors stopped, but no matter
how many times I uninstall and re-install the program never actually
initiates or runs. It's like I am not even installing it.

One of the updates I installed was the newer version of Microsoft .net
Framework (2.2 or something close) and I figured that may have been the point
when it all went wrong, so I uninstalled that, but still no change. Install
and uninstall my Business Contact Manager just doesn't work!

I'll be posting this directly in the newsgroup, but if you have any ideas
please let me know! Thank you once again!!

Yes! Uninstallation of NAV / NIS /NSW probably.

Yes, it should.
