I just downloaded and used the new Live Scan from
Microsoft and it wiped out all my mail in Mozilla. There was no warning to close the program before a scan, so I was scanning in the background and using Mozilla. The Live Scan said that it found a coupld of viruses and 3 infected folders and then all my mail disappeared. Is it necessary to wipe out entire files like that? Would it have been a bit more intelligent if I had not had the program running? I did a search of the hard drive, but all the data seems to have \ vanished. |

The tool is BETA .
Beta means still not finished,not completed...And do you remember what did you signed when agreed before scanning...Microsoft makes no warranties about beta product !!! One more thing.Do you have full and up-to-date antivirus software.Are you absolutely sure you are not infected by virus. I remember the caveats that I signed off on.
My question is to help make the product better -- if anyone there cares. I would think that a scan could remove an offending bit of code without resort to wiping out an entire file. Mozilla is competition for Microsoft so I suspect that there is little sympathy for a loss of data on a rival program... I think something else went wrong, I have Firefox and was using it during
the scan and I still have all my mail in all handlers. I also have not experienced any of the issues that others have "YET". Is there a news group for this product?? I do have some suggestions and would like to pass them on to Microsoft. I think that this IS the group for this product -- I was lead here by their
page. The program found 2 virus copies and I think that's what caused the purge. It didn't help that the inbox and sent were waaay overfull of mail (5700 in each).
