I decided to set a pass word for the administrator. Up to this point I hadn't
used one. This is on one computer and not in a network. When I did this it asked if I wanted the Administrator's files protected or maybe it said limited access. I said yes. Now I can not get any of my files. It tells me that they are not accessible. I have a lot of information that I cannot seem to get. As the administrator how do I open these "not accessible files"? My email is ejewell(deletethis)@verizon.net |

Hopefully you know the password of at least on administrator on the computer
or if using XP Home you probably can boot into Safe Mode and logon as the built in administrator account with a blank password. Any administrator can ultimately access any file on the computer that is not encrypted [where he does not have access to encryption key]. The administrator may however need to take "ownership" of the folders and then grant himself full control permissions to the folders in question. The links below explain exactly how to do this. --- Steve http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;308421 http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;308418 "Elwin" <Elwin@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B9DE34D7-655A-4E05-8322-32C784654A05@microsoft.com... >I decided to set a pass word for the administrator. Steve, I attempted to do as you suggested. I was able to get one file so I
can use it. But when I try to get to where most of my files were or I are it won't let me access them. It never ask for pass word which I have. My operating system is (xp professional 2002 ser. pack 2). I set up most of my files C:/documents settings/administrator/myfiles/*.*. Once I get to the folder administrator it will not let me share this folder. Pop up with message: An error occurred while trying to share Administration. Access is denied. The shared resource was not created at this time. I really appreciate your help. Hmm. Make sure you are the owner of the folder/file you are trying to
access. Also when you try to take ownership on any folder be sure to check the box for replace owner on subcontainers and objects. --- Steve "Elwin" <Elwin@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E8B6FCA4-578D-4529-835D-3A04A32ACA98@microsoft.com... > Steve, I attempted to do as you suggested.
