All of a sudden I am getting the following error message when trying to open
anything with swflash.cab:

Windows has blocked this software because it can't verify publisher.

I have tried changing setting but nothing works. Any ideas?

You might try changing the settings in Internet Explorer tools/internet
options/advanced - check for signatures of downloaded programs and disable
it temporarily. --- Steve
