I removed an old named account and left the original administrator on my
system. I changed the password and then closed the computer down. When I rebooted the welcome message tells you to select a user but there are none shown. I press CRT ALT Del twice and it recognises the administrator and password but says that I am unable to log on because of an account restriction. Is there any way of geting back into my machine? Thanks Richard |

Try booting into Safe Mode as the administrator account may be disabled in
regular logon. --- Steve "Richard B" <RichardB@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:79FD344F-6355-4A97-A8C6-69ED44D6BC1A@microsoft.com... >I removed an old named account and left the original administrator on my > system. Thanks.
I booted in safe mode F8, and using my old adminstrator password managed to create a new account. I then just had to redo my personal account properties, desktop etc. Thanks for the help regards Richard Barnard "Steven L Umbach" wrote: > Try booting into Safe Mode as the administrator account may be disabled in > regular logon. --- Steve > > > "Richard B" <RichardB@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:79FD344F-6355-4A97-A8C6-69ED44D6BC1A@microsoft.com... > >I removed an old named account and left the original administrator on my > > system. It sounds as if you're using XP Home. The Administrator account can only be accessed in Safe Mode for XP Home.
