I am suddenly interested in enabling Software DEP for all my applications,
especially in light of the news that it can stop exploits like the new WMF vulnerability. The question I have not seen addressed anywhere concerns the performance of applications once DEP is enabled. Theoretically, will all applications under DEP suffer a performance hit? If so, how much? If there is a performance hit, is it significant enough to affect CPU intensive applications such as video capture/playback, games, etc? Grateful for any info. |

Microsoft has updated their security bulletin to indicate enabling DEP
software/applications will *not* prevent the WMF exploit. Doh!
Nevertheless, I would still welcome any info about performance issues with software DEP. Doh, back at you, smart ass.
Yes, there can be performance issues.
