I am running XP Pro (SP2) and have had only one logon and it is in
the Administrator Group so I assumed all the security changes I made were at the "System" level and would apply to all future users. I recently created a limited user account to use while on the internet. Turns out the new account has no Trusted or Restricted Sites (Hosts, IE settings, etc?) and a ZA scan found copies of "BroadCastPC" and "VirtualBouncer" after visiting what I considered trusted sites. I have been through "Help & Support" and wherever it has sent me but I have not found a clue on protecting a limited account with existing files/settings. Can someone please point me in the right direction? THANK YOU! |

The Internet Explorer settings you configured are done per user account so
the ones you did while logged on as an administrator did not apply to the new account. You can copy a user profile over to a new account while logged on as an administrator that is not the source or destination account, modify the default user account so that all users get the same baseline settings when they logon for the first time, or configure each account individually. If you really got what you describe from visiting a trusted site then maybe you should not trust at least one of the sites you visited. In addition to using a firewall you want to also regularly scan your computer for viruses [weekly at least] and spyware with a program like the free for personal use AdAware SE that most likely will detect and remove the programs you describe.
