Default windows firewall

I keep getting pop-ups when I'm on MSN, and I checked my Windows Firewall and
noticed it's not on. The problem is I can't even turn it on, because "For my
security, some settings are controlled by Group Policy" What is Group Policy,
and how can I configure it so that I can control it?

Default RE: windows firewall

Are you basic HOME user?

This message appears if you are part of a network with domains and someone
else (administartor) controls the settings in order to have protected PCs
and you to work normally...

Could you describe the problem with much more details ,what did you do ,when
(and why do you think/suppose) the problem started...
What other security software do you have...

I have the same problem. This is a home computer, no network and I have a
Trojan virus and the firewall is or has been switched off. Could a virus do
this? Anyway, how do I change the Group admin. instruction and switch the
Firewall back on? Thanks.
