Hi all,
My problem is that i am unable to edit startup because my computer hangs when i run msconfig. Otherwise the computer seems to be working alright. I never tried running msconfig before but now i see that windows takes a long time to start. So I thought i would check the start up in msconfig utility. Every other program that is running simultaneuosly keeps working fine. Only the msconfig window is not working, although it shows up on the desktop. I am not sure if it was the stinger anti-virus which i had run only previously. it found a lot of viruses. Thanks for your help Regards Mondal |

Stinger is a very limited first-line antivirus scanner. If it found "a lot of viruses", then your computer probably has more malware that Stinger didn't catch. If you do not have a current version (not earlier than 2004) full-featured antivirus installed with an active subscription and updated definitions (and from your post it doesn't seem that you do), then first scan with either Sysclean or Dave Lipman's Multi-AV: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...icros_Sysclean http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm - how to use Dave Lipman's Multi-AV http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe - Multi-AV download After you've done that initial scan, get and install a full-featured av, update it, and do a thorough scan in Safe Mode. After that, continue your housecleaning by scanning for non-viral malware: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware Once you know the computer is clean, if you are still experiencing the problem post back with the results of your troubleshooting.
