Default Document and settings

I bought my laptop form Office Depot. This was the display model. Everytime I
do work it would show Office Depot as Owner. When checking explore and trying
to change the name to minethe response "... Office Depot is a Window system
folder and is required to run widows..." the name cannot be changed. How can
I change Office to my neme without having to reinstall Windows?

Create a new account and logon with that account then delete the Office Depot account and
Profile.

You can change the name of the computer by logging on as an administrator
and going to Control Panel/system/computer name - change. They may have
created a user called Office Depot. You can create a new user account to
logon with by logging on as the or an administrator and the going to Control
Panel/user accounts. For Windows XP Home you will need to logon in Safe Mode
to access the built in administrator account and the password may be blank.
Once you create new accounts you can delete accounts you no longer need
while logged on as an administrator other than the built in administrator
account [which may be renamed but can be named to what you want] and the
guest account. You can also delete user profiles for users that you have
deleted in Control Panel/system/advanced - user profiles settings. Hopefully
some of this will help as I am not exactly sure what you are trying to
accomplish. --- Steve
