As you may or may not be aware, there is a very serious vulnerability that was recently discovered in windows that affects all version of Windows to date. This vulnerability can be exploited simply by having an image displayed on your computer screen. There has been a 3rd party temporary hotfix developed that should prevent your computer from being exploited by the vulnerability that works on Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003. This hotfix is only intended for temporary use until Microsoft is able to release a full version of the patch, which is tentatively scheduled for release next Tuesday, the 10th. We have worked with the author of this hotfix to re-package the files in a new installer package so that it is more reliable and easier to deploy, and later remove, then the original installation he wrote. Our installer has been tested and verified by the original author and he has included a link to our website from his own. More details on this can be found on our website. There are may news articles and stories relating to this subject matter that you can find online. There are 3 important ones that you should check out. -Our page with some details about the MSI re-packaged installer. http://accentconsulting.com/wmf.shtml -Author's official website http://www.hexblog.com/ (due to load, his site was moved to a different server last night, if the previous link comes up with an error page, use this link http://216.227.222.95/) -Well wrote description of the problem and links to the author's website http://www.grc.com/sn/notes-020.htm I strongly recommend you temporarily install this patch using either the original version or the updated installer that we developed (they both install the same exact patch), and then forward this email on to everyone you know, as this does affect every version of Windows released to date.
