I have just replaced my home office system. Both the new machine and the old
one were purchased with XP Home pre-installed. I purchased an XP Pro upgrade for the old machine a couple of years back and, in view of the fact that I have now gutted and scrapped that machine, considered it OK to continue the use of the upgrade by installing it on the new machine. Unfortunately, I get a message telling me that I can't do this because the version of XP Home I am seeking to upgrade is more recent than the XP Pro Upgrade pack. Is this just a case of "hard luck" or is there a work around? -- The man on the hill sees it all |

Basically what the procedure does is integrate Service Pack 2 into your XP Pro Upgrade CD. Here's a web site that will explain the process a whole lot better than I could in this forum. Create a Slip Stream version of Windows XP http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/slipstream.htm Here are some of the files you'll need to obtain in order to follow this procedure: Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en AutoStreamer 1.0.33 http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/1092632287/1 CDBurner XPPro http://www.cdburnerxp.se/download.php Here's another article that you may find helpful with this issue: How to use AutoStreamer to Slipstream Windows XP Service Pack 2 http://www.simplyguides.net/guides/u...ostreamer.html If you're looking for more info on this topic, do a Google search for slipstream. Good luck Nepatsfan |
