I want to upgrade from 2k Pro to XP Pro, but the setup program is telling me
I am not eligable to upgrade. It lists "One possible cause could be less than 64 mb of RAM." The computer I want to upgrade currently has +1 gb of RAM installed! No other conflicts are reported during the compatibility scan. I definitely do not want to reformat the drive and perform a clean install! If that is my only option, I would rather stay with win 2k. Computer configuration: Dell Poweredge 2500 P4 1.5 GHZ Processor 1.3 GB RAM Any help on where to begin finding the cause of not being able to upgrade would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

You need a "Retail Version", and not an "OEM Version",
of Windows XP in order to upgrade over Windows 2000. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Microsoft Community Newsgroups news://msnews.microsoft.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "vicezilla" wrote: | I want to upgrade from 2k Pro to XP Pro, but the setup program is telling me | I am not eligable to upgrade. I think that the problem is that this is a server! Dell PowerEdge 2500 is a
server-class machine. I would check with the Dell web site to see if this is possible. And, are you sure that you are running WIN2000 Pro and not WIN2000 Server? -- Cary W. That was it. I used a "Retail Version" disk, and the install went in with no
problems. Thanks Carey.
