To whom this may concern:
I was having a very hard time yesterday installing Windows XP on my seagate hard drive. Here were my symptoms: - Insert Windows XP CD and let it automatically boot at start-up - Agreed to terms, setup my partition, and let it format - The files copied to my hard drive - When it was time to boot again, the CD would boot straight into setup again (without prompting you to press any key continue . . . . ) So I searched, and searched and couldn't find my answer. So I found out something very important. !!Find out what mode your hard drive is being detected as!! My hard drive was an LBA hard drive, but it was detecting it as a CHS hard drive. So I told my BIOS instead of auto-detecting, I manually set it to LBA, and it worked! I hoped this helped someone. Thanks! - E.T. |
