I tried activating my version of Windows over the internet, but it is not
recognizing my product key, even when I retype it and click "retry". I was then going to activate it by phone, but both the toll and toll-free numbers given to me by my computer do not work. As a last resort, I called Dell technical support, and the moron there said that my phone number and address do not match my computer registry, even though I called technical support two weeks ago to get my internet and sound drivers installed again, and had no problem doing so. I now have about 5 or 6 hours before I can't use windows anymore. Do I have any other options, or am I doomed to uninstall windows, reinstall windows, reinstall my drivers and all of my programs every 30 days for the rest of my life? |

Scott;
If you have a Dell computer with a Dell CD, activation should not be necessary. Have you made any changes to the computer from original configuration? -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "ScottZanarky" <ScottZanarky@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:64F65F68-FF80-4C11-9F8A-DF91EF4482A0@microsoft.com... >I tried activating my version of Windows over the internet, but it is not > recognizing my product key, even when I retype it and click "retry". Hi
Go into Control Panel>Regional and Language Options and make sure that all three tabs and submenus are set correctly to where you are. Then try the activation again via 'phone. -- Will Denny MS MVP Windows Shell/User Please reply to the News Groups "ScottZanarky" <ScottZanarky@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:64F65F68-FF80-4C11-9F8A-DF91EF4482A0@microsoft.com... >I tried activating my version of Windows over the internet, but it is not > recognizing my product key, even when I retype it and click "retry".
