Default Windows XP Home Editing - Unable to Activate

I tried activating my version of Windows over the internet, but it is not
recognizing my product key, even when I retype it and click "retry". I was
then going to activate it by phone, but both the toll and toll-free numbers
given to me by my computer do not work. As a last resort, I called Dell
technical support, and the moron there said that my phone number and address
do not match my computer registry, even though I called technical support two
weeks ago to get my internet and sound drivers installed again, and had no
problem doing so. I now have about 5 or 6 hours before I can't use windows
anymore.

Do I have any other options, or am I doomed to uninstall windows, reinstall
windows, reinstall my drivers and all of my programs every 30 days for the
rest of my life?

Scott;
If you have a Dell computer with a Dell CD, activation should not be
necessary.
Have you made any changes to the computer from original configuration?

Hi

Go into Control Panel>Regional and Language Options and make sure that all
three tabs and submenus are set correctly to where you are. Then try the
activation again via 'phone.
