A few days ago I wipe my harddrive clean of Windows XP, so i went out to the store and brought a new copy of windows XP Home OEM full version. So i install windows xp with the new product key. My question is since that i wipe my harddrive clean of windows xp, can i used my old product key, for a computer that i am going to build? |

John,
I was assuming you had a retail upgrade or full version when answering. If a retail upgrade that you still have the qualifying product. If a store purchased OEM version that came with some hardware, then technically speaking I believe you are supposed to be using that hardware in the computer you install the OEM version. If it came OEM installed on a new computer purchased, then the answer is NO -- Jon Hildrum DTS MVP Jon_Hildrum@msn.com www.hildrum.com "John" <John@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:27F109C0-4F3B-47A2-8F1E-1189C5FB57EC@microsoft.com... > Thank you for your help. > > > "Jon_Hildrum" wrote: > >> Yes >> >> -- >> Jon Hildrum >> DTS MVP >> Jon_Hildrum@msn.com >> www.hildrum.com >> "John" <John@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:33941EF9-2525-4CA0-96BD-9CAC55EB8B4E@microsoft.com... >> > My question has to do with my windows product key.... >> > >> > A few days ago I wipe my harddrive clean of Windows XP, so i went out >> > to >> > the >> > store and brought a new copy of windows XP Home OEM full version.
