I'm attempting to replace a dodgy motherboard on my home system. This forum
has been very helpful, and I've found the instructions on how to do this in other threads here. But it's not working for me. When I click "Install Windows XP" running the install CD, I get a message: "Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD." The CD has XP Pro SP1, while the computer is running with all updates, like a good boy should. Please advise. |

The problem is caused by SP-2 on your computer and is seen as a downgrade
with the SP-1 CD. Two choices: 1. Uninstall SP-2 2. (Best) Slipstream SP-2 into the new CD: http://msfn.org/comments.php?id=9235...ght=slipstream -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Nobody Important" <NobodyImportant@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FAC4A9EB-0197-4B67-AC1D-6E3A945F3812@microsoft.com... > I'm attempting to replace a dodgy motherboard on my home system. I slipstreamed SP2 onto a new install CD, and I still get the same message.
