I have a Dell reinstall cd for my Windows XP but I lost the cd key. What can
I do to get a new one? Do I need to just buy a copy of Windows XP?? I have a
legal copy of Windows but no cd key. Any info would be helpful. Please email

If you have a Dell notebook, look on the bottom
of the notebook. If you have a Dell desktop, look
on the back or sides of the Dell computer case.

You may be able to retrieve your current CD-Key using a 3rd party tool.

You can probably recover your key using the magical Jellybean key
finder
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

Most dell cds don't require inputting the key (when installing on the
original pc). It is coded into the CD and BIOS locked to the motherboard.

The key will be on the side of the case for desktops,or on the bottom of the
pc for laptops.

Most disk images if that is the type are all the same key number and will
not match the one on machine sticker. Recently I think MS turned off
internet activation for those OEM blocks of keys(from the stickers) to
activate over the internet. So good luck another hassle to legit customers
from the GREED EMPIRE of MS.

They only hurt the legit users there is patches out there to get around
everyone of their Anti Pirate schemes so it only hurts moderate legit PC
users such as yourself

It's on a sticker on the outside of the case if a desktop or the bottom if a
laptop.
