Default Re: cannot install windows components

there was a post a few days ago dealing with "Installing Windows Components".
The error was a little different. Try to look for it.I will try also.
In the mean time try to run Add/remove program from
Start>Run>C:\windows\system32\appwiz.cpl
or
c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386\appwiz.cpl

What happens?

It worked OK until you installed updates?

Do this:
Start>Run>cmd okay, enter
Type: expand f:\i386\appwiz.cp_ c:\windows\system32\appwiz.cp
should see file expanded.
type: exit

where "F" is your cdrom drive and "C" is your windows location

Try to run Add/remove programs

If this doesn't work, let me know.

When I tried to send fax the computer freezed. Then I removed and installed
fax service but the same fax problem occur again. I solved this problem by
removing all the updates (security and hotfix).
Do anyone know which update cause this problem?
