Wireless Zero Configuration service was not listed under services, so
I added it per http://www.practicallynetworked.com/qa/qa20040311.shtml It shows up in Services now, but it won't start. Error in event log is: "Could not start the Wireless Zero Configuration service on local computer. Error 2: the system cannot find the specified file" wzcdlg.dll, wzcsvc.dll and wzcsapi.dll are in c:\windows\system32 How can I find out what file is missing or repair/re-install the service? TIA, Russ |

did you search your \windows\system32 folder for these files. I have them
there and servicepackfiles\i386. Do you have SP2 installed or are you current on updates? -- Dennis S. I''m from Illinois. I hope I helped you. Good Luck. I know there is a networking news group also. you may want to get some help
there. I know that I also have a service/process running in task manger. that references these files. Have you checked there. start>run>cmd>tasklist /svc wireless service if running will be listed. Have you also, looked under Services to see that Wireless configuration is started? To initialize it, open Administrative Tools in the Control Panel and select Services. Scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration, Right-click on it, and select Start. The service is now enabled, and the Wireless Network tab will be visible in Network Properties (from your article) If this doesn't help you, I have exhausted my knowledge of this topic. try networking news group. -- Dennis S. I''m from Illinois. I hope I helped you. Good Luck. It is listed in Services.msc, but when I try to start it, it fails with "error 2: file not found" I can only guess what file it's looking for, so I checked the only ones I know about, the wzc* ones, which all seem to be present. Thanks for your help. I will try the networking group. |
