Hi!
I wonder if anyone can explain the diffrence between quik format and the old slow one. Why do you have to alternatives when installing Win xp or 2003 server? Which one is the best? |

Is solved.
If you choose the Quick format option, format removes files from the partition, but does not scan the disk for bad sectors. Only use this option if your hard disk has been previously formatted and you are sure that your hard disk is not damaged. Then you can choose Quick. |

Basically writes 0 on every single sector of the hard disk.. Enough passes and recovery would be a daunting task, to say the least. Which is best is determined by your trust in your hardware (a full format is something I would recommend if you have had trouble with the hard drive or if it is new to you.. where you could perform a quick format if you trust the hardware and are just doing a clean install.. If you are getting rid of the machine - low-level with 15+ passes is the way to go!) -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |
