Default Product Keys

I have an original oem disk for my compaq computer however it is time to
replace the hard disk as it is failing and i could do with a larger drive.

My problem is the computer is a few years old now and during the time i have
had it the sticker with the key i need to reinstall has been scratched off by
the kids.

How do i obtain the proper key for my disk or where do i send the disk to
get a replacment. i have been trying for nearly a year and all those i have
asked have so far said i have to buy the whole thing again. clearly this is
unacceptable when i have the disk in perfect condition.

Try the following:

Visit http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and download the free
Belarc Advisor. After running the program, look under the section
titled "Software Licenses".

When you purchase your new hard drive it may come with a utility disk
or CD that includes a disk cloning utility which you could use to
transfer the entire content of the old drive to the new one.

And if the disk is not provided then you can download the utility from
the hard drive manufacturer's web site.

Good luck
