Reinstall XP home Product Catalog Error

Hi

I have XP Home SP2 on a Dell Dimension 8200. Some time ago it was
experiencing problems with Active X and system restore points.

I reinstalled SP2 and the problem went away. It all worked well for 3 days
and then crashed seeminly after I removed a prgram named 3D Studio.

The system now does not boot and flashes up a message briefly that I cannot
read.

I have tried a repair install.

This presents an install screen that tells me that it ias installing Windows
and then crashes after a long time with a message "Setup failed to install
the product catalogues" message. The SETUP.ERR file is opened and dispalys
loads of messages warning about failure to remove product catalogues.

I have booted into Recovery Console and renamed the CATROOT2 folder and
tried the reinstall again but I still get the same error.
