We have pushed out ghost images to several laptops, and they seems to be
created with a non oem software. So now it says that Windows is activated with a wrong key, and cant be validated.. Every computer comes with there own cd key so I need to reactivate windows XP with the right key... is it possible? |

If you intend on using the original OEM Product Keys,
then you must create your image using an OEM version of Windows XP. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Microsoft Community Newsgroups news://msnews.microsoft.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Micke__1" wrote: | We have pushed out ghost images to several laptops, and they seems to be | created with a non oem software. The new images we make we will ofcourse use oem cds, but for those who have
the retail copy we intend to register with the unik reg key that came with the computer. //Micke "Carey Frisch [MVP]" wrote: > If you intend on using the original OEM Product Keys, > then you must create your image using an OEM version > of Windows XP. > > -- > Carey Frisch > Microsoft MVP > Windows - Shell/User > Microsoft Community Newsgroups > news://msnews.microsoft.com/ > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > "Micke__1" wrote: > > | We have pushed out ghost images to several laptops, and they seems to be > | created with a non oem software. You cannot use an OEM Product Key that came
with a computer with a Retail Version Windows XP CD. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Microsoft Community Newsgroups news://msnews.microsoft.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Micke__1" wrote: | The new images we make we will ofcourse use oem cds, but for those who have | the retail copy we intend to register with the unik reg key that came with | the computer. | | //Micke |

I know,
the scenario, two laptops, one presinstalled. We ghost it to the other computer. Then the new computer got problem with the windows when it has to validate it. We are going to use the serial number that came with the computer, not the oem serial. Ofcourse I syspreped the installation before I ghost it.. //Micke "Carey Frisch [MVP]" wrote: > You cannot use an OEM Product Key that came > with a computer with a Retail Version Windows XP CD. > > -- > Carey Frisch > Microsoft MVP > Windows - Shell/User > Microsoft Community Newsgroups > news://msnews.microsoft.com/ > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > "Micke__1" wrote: > > | The new images we make we will ofcourse use oem cds, but for those who have > | the retail copy we intend to register with the unik reg key that came with > | the computer. > | > | //Micke > > |
