Hi,
I have 2 XP Home installations in my computer, one completed installation & one incomplete installation. The XP copies were created with following steps: 1. Ran installation from installation floppies created by WinXP_EN_HOM_BF.EXE downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en 2. Continued installation with XP Home CD (Simplified Chinese version). >From text mode output, files needed for installation copied to HD. 3. XP installation auto rebooted PC. But I found the GUI display unreadable due to mismatched language versions of installation programs ran in 1 & 2 (my mistake, forgot to checked if correct language version program downloaded). 4. Downloaded the needed installation program from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...5-bd5afee126d8 (Simplified Chinese version). 5. Restarted installation from floppies based on program downloaded at 4. 6. Completed installation of Simplified Chinese version XP Home. 7. Rebooted PC and found 2 XP HOME entries listed in start menu, both called XP HOME. Choosing the 2nd entry in the list led me to the incomplete XP Home installation program. How can I remove the incomplete XP image ? I tried following "How to Uninstall Windows XP upgrade in Recovery Console" steps listed http://www.windowsreinstall.com/arti...euninstall.htm but found the procedure couldn't be executed because osuninst.exe couldn't be executed. |

The easy way is: Start/Run/type "msconfig" [omitting the quote markers] and
click "OK"/when the System Configuration Utility opens, click the "BOOT.INI" Tab/when that opens, click the "Check All Boot Paths" button/if any Boot Path is flawed, the system will offer to remove it/let it.
