devices that can connect thru rca jacks but the reviews i've read dont sound to promising. Any othe suggestions or know of a good capture device "Rehan" wrote: > I would suggest an alternative which you may be able to do without buying a > card: Use your new DV camcorder (you have one, dont you?) as a passthru for > capturing via Firewire. Depending on quality and how much you want to spend, how old your analogue
cam is.... It may be better to buy a digital cam, as the cost is not too much at the lower end, and just ensure it has analogue in listed in the specs. The reason I say this is, due to the cost of the quality A>D convertors. You need to look at canopus advc range or Miglia. They have chipsets which keep the audio and video in sync, connect via firewire, so give great compatibility, you can use movie maker or whichever other editing app you like to capture and edit. You get dv-avi files which are good quality and easy to edit. The problem is the cost, it's almost as much as a cheap cam, or more for top of the range. Cheaper versions generally connect via usb, lose sync and give you mpeg files, none of whch you want. -- Graham Hughes MVP Digital Media www.myvideoproblems.co.uk www.dvds2treasure.com www.simplydv.com "weindino" <weindino@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9C447142-B416-403A-9CC2-02F89E77D1E5@microsoft.com... >I dont have a digital camcorder only an older analog camera. But, if you have existing video from an analog camera, buying a new DVcamera
won't help. So, there's nothing except expensive options of getting analog film from a camera or VCR into your computer for editting? From an analog camcorder....? Import it to the PC using a PCI Capture card
or VIVO capable graphics card.... and there's nothing expensive about either. Most come with the third party software necessary for analog video capture and editing. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubmit=Property http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubmit=Property Cheapest I can find is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16815100120R No software with this one, but it is only $19.95 which is hardly expensive. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging "rusty97015" <rusty97015@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:39C450D9-38BD-4519-A162-74FD37DAEE6D@microsoft.com... > But, if you have existing video from an analog camera, buying a new > DVcamera > won't help.
