Hi,
I am interested in receiving an video feed from an IEEE 1394 (firewire) camera on two windows XP machines simultaneously. The setup I have tried so far is to connect the two XP machines to a firewire hub, that then connects to the camera. I have tried interchanging hubs, firewire cables, have tested with two separate cameras, but the result is the same each time -- I am able to get the video feed from one computer using the default viewer (the viewer that pops up when double-clicking on the camera in "My Computer" ), but then when trying to connect through the default viewer on the other computer a popup comes up saying something to the effect of "cannot read from camera, make sure that it is not already being used", and it fails to link into the feed. I know that IEEE 1394 supports such a configuration, so I am wondering if the problem I am seeing is a limitation of Windows XP, the provided firewire drivers, or something else. Also, I would like to know if there is a way to make it work on XP. Thanks |
