Default video jumps to fullscreen mode and won't respond

Help, when I try to play any video the windows media player or other
player comes on in a window like normal but in like 3 seconds it
changes to fullscreen mode and won't respond to any key prompts and I
have to manually shut down the computer. I've checked all the display
settings etc and everything is normal. I have a Sony Vaio about a year
old. Can anyone help me?

In WMP click on tools, options, chk the box "connect to internet" then open
file-types tap,select all,close out.

It now seems like the problem is in my dvd player/recorder because when
I attempt to open Vaio Click to DVD it opens and immediately freezes so
I can't even get at it to check. I then have to shut down or unplug my
computer.

Very frustrating...............
