Default Distorted sound in timeline

I have seen this question on several places but no answer that seems to help.
I have use WMM2 for many movies and never have had any problem. Now I made a
movie this weekend and started up WMM2 to edit it, and now the sound is
distorted when I play the movie in the timeline. I have seen suggestions that
this is because WMM2 remakes the audio from 32k to 44k, and yes I get the
exact same error on the sound if I strip it from the move, takes it into a
audio program and remakes it to 44k.
This has never happend before in WMM2 and I have not changed any hardware
(except installed a TV card). Has Microsoft released a fix or something that
makes this error on WMM2?

I hope someone can have an answer to this question.

Maybe its the software which was installed with the tv card that is causing
the problem, have you tried removing the card and the software, using system
restore to go back to pre-installation and see if that helps?
