Problem when viewing multiple videos

I'm running WinXP Pro SP2, and using Media Player Classic.

I have no problem viewing videos, but if I try running more than one, a
strange thing happens. The first video I open looks fine. But any
video I open after that (while keeping the first one open) appears
washed out--as if it somehow had the gamma cranked way up on them.

This happens regardless of what codec(s) are in use. It even happens if
I simply begin watching TV using my TV tuner card, or a DVD with Nero
ShowTime, and then open one or more video files.

I was running the ffdshow codec utility, but even after removing it, the
problem continues.

This is quite annoying--any ideas?

Do I understand correctly, that this occurs when you are using MPC plus
any one of several other programs (including another occurrence of
MPC)? In other words, does the problem occur if you are using any
combination that does not include MPC? If so, I suppose I'd try to
reinstall MPC, in case you have inadvertantly set some option that is
causing it to misbehave. I use multiple occurrences of MPC quite a
often without the problem you describe. If you have set some options,
you may want to review your settings, especially if there is something
pertaining to "hardware acceleration" (I'can't recall if there is
something like this).
