Default Unable to Capture Video over FireWire

I have a Dell Dimension 8250 computer. It has an IEEE 1394 Capture card.
When I got the computer, it came with the program “Video Movie Creator” (by
Roxio). The problem is I can capture video over the firewire using the Video
Movie Creator but not Movie Maker. When I try to use Movie Maker, it will
recognize two capture video devices: Canon DV Device and Dell Movie Studio
Video Device. When I select the Cannon DV device, I automatically get the
following error message, “A problem was encountered while trying to connect
to one of your capture devices. Check your capture devices, and then try
again.” The cannon EURA 60 Digital Video Recorder is on.

What do I need to do to be able to capture video from by camera in Movie
maker. (I do have service pack 2)

It sounds like there is a conflict somewhere. In Movie maker, try Tools >
Options > Compatibility and turn off any codecs listed.
Otheriwse, anything you capture using roxio, if you use dv-avi format can be
imported into movie maker for editing anyway.

Again thanks,
I went to papajohn.org and read of similar problems. Their fix was to
reload Movie make 2. But the only way I know of how to do this is by
rerunning Service pack 2, which I have know idea of how to do, since it was
run as and automatic update.
