Default Black and White Video Trouble

i just put together my first amd box and i'm very impressed with it,
but i'm having one of the most random problems i've ever seen. any
sort of video playback (avi, mpeg, dvd) is in black and white. at
first i thought it was a codec issue because i'm using xp x64 and
thought that there would be some sort of different codec necessary, but
since wmp still runs in 32bit it won't make a difference anyway. i've
tried different codec packs, simple codecs, none of those have
alleviated the situation. any sort of help would be greatly
appreciated

specs:
amd athlon 2800+ 64bit
asus k8n-e delux
gf4 4600ti
windows xp pro x64

if you need any other specs just feel free to ask and i'll reply..
thanks in advance

Two questions....

Is this signal output to a TV rather than a PC monitor? If so, how is the
TV connected to the PC?

What country area you in.... somewhere that uses PAL rather than NTSC?

Hmmm, not a problem I've seen before in an x64 bit edition of XP Pro... but
then again I do NOT use codec packs. I'd suggest uninstalling them and
using a proper DVD decoder software (PowerDVD v7 works fine)... and xVid and
DiVX codecs from their websites, you shouldn't need much more than this...
perhaps QuickTime if you need to play MOV files. Of course make sure you
have 64bit graphics drivers for your card.
