Default Compress old files??

I notice this choice when using 'disk cleanup' utility.
I have several gigs of space that it claims could be freed by doing this. I
hesitate, because a lot of the files are video files. I know that other
compressions of video files can cause loss of video quality. Would the use
of the compression in the cleanup cause this loss also??
Thanks for any reply...

No the compression disk cleanup uses is a lossless compression, it just
kind of like zipping the files, but without actually putting them in zip
files. So it will not affect the quality of any type of music or video
file.

Your thinking of like mp3 or divx compression what is a lossy
compression where some data is actually lost, hence lowering the quality.
