Re: XP Pro SP2 will not recognize 1394 built in the Intel D915PBL

It could be the controller, it is easy to damage the ports electronically if
plugging items in and out while turned on, or physically by being to rough.

Thanks Graham.

I called Intel and I am getting a replacement board. I reinstalled XP Pro
Sp1 and got the same result, so it can't be the software.

Hopefully the replacement mobo will solve my problem. Thanks again. Your

Graham,

I got my Intel motherboard back. As I suspected, it was a bad built in
1394 controller. My XP Pro now detects the Canopus ADVC-50. Network
Connections detects it as a 1394 connection and so does Device Manager.

My plan is not to upgrade my BIOS and other 1394 "fixes". Movie Maker,
Roxio, and Nero video capture apps detect the 1394 also.
