Until a few months ago, my DVD player on my computer functioned perfectly.
Now, when I put in a DVD, it makes a whirring sound that seems like it's about to work but then it stops, then does it a few more times and stops. I've tried running it manually and I've downloaded a DVD decoder but nothing has changed. I'm also in another country right now (but still playing American DVDs) so I don't have my materials that came with my computer. Thanks. |

Can you actually use Windows Explorer to view the files on the DVD itself?
If not, it unfortunately sounds as if the laser is failing and the drive should be replaced. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging "Catogle" <Catogle@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:56F8D2C2-4493-4EA1-8EEF-9756E6BC6C90@microsoft.com... > Until a few months ago, my DVD player on my computer functioned perfectly. > Now, when I put in a DVD, it makes a whirring sound that seems like it's > about to work but then it stops, then does it a few more times and stops. > I've tried running it manually and I've downloaded a DVD decoder but > nothing > has changed.
