I've been using XP for 3 years with no video problems until now. Whether I'm playing a video strip or a DVD movie, the display area is black, though the audio comes through fine. Any suggestions as to what is missing that was there before? As I said, this was all working fine before. Before what? I don't know. -- Roger Cote |

Reinstall the DVD decoding software (usually PowerDVD or WinDVD) for the DVD
side and the relevant codecs (usually xVid and/or DiVX) for the AVI files. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging "Roger Cote" <Roger.Cote.1xulew@pcbanter.net> wrote in message news:Roger.Cote.1xulew@pcbanter.net... > > I've been using XP for 3 years with no video problems until now. My monitor 's resolution amd refresh rate is: 800x600x75HZ Additional info: While my MPEG files will not display in Windows Media Player or Real Player, they do work in Quick Time Player. Do you know if they are MPEG1 or MPEG2 files?
Are other applications displaying correctly? -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging "Roger Cote" <Roger.Cote.1xxraw@pcbanter.net> wrote in message news:Roger.Cote.1xxraw@pcbanter.net... > > My monitor 's resolution amd refresh rate is: 800x600x75HZ > > Additional info: While my MPEG files will not display in Windows Media > Player or Real Player, they do work in Quick Time Player. > > > Cari \(MS-MVP\) Wrote: >> What resolution is your monitor set to? I don't know if they are MPEG1 or 2, since they are not labeled as such, though they are probably both. All other graphics are displaying correctly. As mentioned before, I can view MPEGs in Quick Time Player, so I know the files are valid.
