Default Can't burn DVD (made using Windows movie maker) using Nero software

I made a movie using window's movie maker, (using JVC digital camera) When
trying to burn the movie onto a DVD (to be able to view using DVD player)
using Nero 6 software I am getting the errror messesage "Nero 6 doesn't
recognise the file format .wmv"

Has anyone managed to burn a DVD using the above softwares? Any clues?

Thanks for your help

Nero does not recognize .wmv. You should be saving your project as DV-AVI,
to preserve the quality of the video. .wmv is compressed and you will
notice this compression when you play it on the TV.

Nero does have a plug-in for Nero to make it recognize .wmv files, but the
results will not compare with a project rendered as DV-AVI.
